The Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday remitted the murder case linked to the death of a man whose body was found in a car on May 23, 2015 behind a chophouse at Pandan 7 to the High Court.

According to Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman, the court was satisfied that there is sufficient grounds and evidence for the case to proceed to trial. The next mention of the case will be fixed by the High Court.

The previous charge was read again to the defendant, twenty-seven-year-old Muhammad Zulkifli bin Abdul Jalil who is still being remanded at Jerudong Prison.

The defendant faces a charge of committing gang robbery on 43-year-old Ispawi bin Idris at a house in RPN Kampong Pandan 7, Kuala Belait on May 20, 2015, together with his accomplice Muhammad Hakimi Rizal bin Abdullah @ Eyan anak Beritin (now deceased), and in the course of the gang robbery, one of them committed the murder of Ispawi. This charge carries death penalty.

Muhammad Hakimi Rizal bin Abdullah @ Eyan anak Beritin was found unconscious in the Central Police Station cell at about 10.05am on June 2, 2015.

The defendant, who chose to remain silent during the proceedings yesterday, said he wants to reserve his words for the trial.
