A man surprised an armed robber who broke into his house in Sentul here and was shocked to find that he knew him.

Earlier, the house owner, said City police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh, had received a call from his neighbour that someone had broken into his home.

“When he rushed home, he found his acquaintance in his house. The man pointed what appeared to be a pistol at him before fleeing in a blue BMW car,” he told reporters at the City police headquarters yesterday.

The suspect, added Comm Amar Singh, got away with a computer, a laptop, a television and a printer.

Two days later, the 28-year-old suspect was arrested while driving a Honda Civic along Jalan Aman in Jinjang Utara.

“The stolen computer was in the car,” said Comm Amar Singh, adding that the suspect later led police to a house in Taman Kepong Indah where he had hidden a box containing a Colt .38 Special. Also found were Erimin 5 and two Ecstasy pills.

“Based on investigation and the interrogation of the suspect, a team put a house in Jalan Amansiara, Taman Amansiara Rawang, under surveillance on May 17.

“Four hours later, we raided the house and arrested another man and seized a WG .38 pistol and 52 bullets,” he said, adding that the 23-year-old was believed to be a gun runner.

In another case, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) arrested a 27-year-old suspect at a car park of a condominium in Jalan Dutamas Raya on the same day and seized various drugs, including four Ecstacy pills and 3.63g of syabu.

“This led to a raid at a neighbouring unit where we arrested two men,” he said, adding that police seized 13.7kg of compressed dried leaf and a barrel of liquid that was believed to be ganja and drugs, 105g of heroin and a Glock pistol with 46 bullets.

The drugs were worth RM44,000 in total.

Police, said Comm Amar Singh, also arrested five people and retrieved a Steyr Compact pistol and 10 bullets misplaced earlier by a Bukit Aman NCID officer.

“During the incident at around 8am on May 14, the officer was keeping watch for drug acti­vities near a night club in Jalan Doraisamy.

“When he went to the toilet, he put his gun on the cistern but left without taking it,” said Comm Amar Singh, adding that when the officer went back 15 minutes later, the firearm was no longer there.

“We then conducted several raids and arrested three men and two women in their 20s, who led us to the gun and bullets at a house in Taman Sahabat at around 8am on Thursday,” he said.

Those detained, he said, were put under remand while the officer was being investigated for losing his gun and ammunition.
