Students recently showcased their innovative ideas at a recent entrepreneurship exhibition organised by Politeknik Brunei.
The exhibition, dubbed ENTx 2016, took place on May 10-11, and saw around 380 students from Politeknik Brunei's School of Business and School of ICT, divided into 64 groups, take part.
One project that got a positive response was that of 'Kidrolay Park', which is the creation of Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Md Azmi, Awang Muhammad Al-Akif bin Irfan, Awang Muhammad Syahmi bin Rosli, Dayang Nor Amanina binti Md Zain, Dayang Nurul Nadhirah binti Mohd Shahrizan and Dayang Siti Nadzirah binti Haji Ali.
As they explained to the media representatives, Kidrolay Park is a theme park catered for children, in which they can roleplay and experience various careers, such as doctor, handyman, chef and so on.
Another group was that of 'Gelagah', whose idea is to set up the Brunei's first local sugar cane plantation and production.
The students behind this idea are Awang Abdul Rahman bin Md Hasbi, Awang Mohammad Muizzad bin Ramlan, Awang Abi Syarillizam bin Sabtu, Dayang Siti Qurratu Aini binti Jamil, Dayang Diyana Yazirah binti Haji Anvar and Dayang Siti Hazwani binti Ismail.
Their vision is to become the company of choice in the manufacture of sugar in Brunei, with a mission to produce and market quality white refined sugar efficiently and competitively.
Another project that was presented was that of 'City Traffker', which was created by Dayang Nizzathul Aqilah binti Haji Is'sa, Dayang Nur Syazana binti Rossiman, Dayang Nurul Haziqah binti Abdul Ghani, Dayang Siti Nadzirah binti Shafie and Dayang Siti Nazurah binti Haji Lukman Hakim.
City Traffker is an app that is targeted at commuters, and encourages them to use physical mobility to get to their destination rather than motor vehicles so as to help reduce traffic congestion, as well as obesity and air pollution. Those who use the app can also get paid for doing so.
As they explained, after a user registers once for $2 and downloads the app, they can simply press the `start' button at the beginning of their journey and it will automatically calculate the amount of time it will take for the user to travel to their destination. Users' progress over the course of their journeys in a month is recorded and monitored through the use of GPS.
Users would be rewarded by earning money monthly, based on how far and how often they use physical mobility to travel to their destination.
One more proposed business was that of 'DeliCery' by Dayang Nuur Syahiirah binti Mohammad, Dayang Norain binti Matali, Dayang Nurul Fatin binti Mohammad Kamaluddin, Dayang Nur Syafrina binti Safri, Dayang Syukrina binti Haji Mohamad Ranik and Awang Abdul Razzak bin Muhamad Noh.
DeliCery is an online personal grocery shopping and delivery service, which aims to allow customers to do all their grocery shopping without having to go physically go to a store.
As the group explained, DeliCery would have its own line of grocery products, but would look to establish a partnership with supermarkets and shops in the country to have their products available through their website.
