Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) collaborated in organising a clinic on Muslimah Entrepreneurship recently at UTB's Lecture Theatre.
Highly equipped with knowledge and skills from both universities, their female undergraduates believed that not only can they rise up to the challenge of entrepreneurship, they can perform according to Maqasid Syariah. The event saw a total of 21 nascent female entrepreneurs coming together from various institutions.
The clinic aims to create awareness of opportunities in the Muslim or Halal market, share stories of entrepreneurial journeys by Dr. Hajah Mona Yati binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Mohd Kassim, CEO of MuBN Learning and Growth Company and Dayang Mia Suria, founder of Brunei Islamic Fashion (BIFASH), learn tools and techniques of business, and inspire the young undergraduates to do business start-ups.
One of the key activities accomplished by the attendees was the presentation and business pitching of their business model canvas. The activity was a melting pot of innovation and creative thinking as they continued to broaden and push the boundaries of each other's minds.
Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) sponsored the event and awarded cash prizes for the Best Business Pitch, Best Business Model Canvas, and Best Business Idea.
