It was an anti-dengue fogging gone awry when a motorist was blinded in the smoke screen and rammed into one of the ‘workers’.

The incident happened at about 6pm when the victim who was doing fogging with some others in Lane 14, Merdeka Road, during what was an apparent residential initiative to curb the dreaded Aedes mosquito.

The 34-year-old man suffered injuries to his head and leg after being hit by the car in Sunday’s incident.

He was rushed to Sibu Hospital where he was still waiting for an x-ray report to see if his left knee was fractured.

According to a police report made by the 70-year-old driver, the road was filled with smoke as he passed through the area.

At first, he stopped his vehicle. When he drove on, he felt a loud bang as if grazing an iron pole at the front left of his car.

Jamming on the brakes, he was stumped to come face to face with a group of men fuming and asking him why he hit their friend while slapping the roof of the car.

The car was not damaged – when the smoke lifted.
