India is now a member of the space plane club.
The nation flight-tested its robotic space plane prototype, known as the Reusable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD), for the first time Sunday night (May 22), said officials with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
The uncrewed vehicle launched atop an HS9 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Center, on Sriharikota Island just off the east coast of India, at 9:30 p.m. EDT Sunday (1:30 a.m. GMT; 7 a.m. India Standard Time on Monday, May 23), ISRO officials said.
