Foreigner to Settle Fine or Serve 4-Month's Jail for Drug Consumption

A foreign labourer was ordered by the Magistrate's Court to settle a B$2,300 fine or risk serving four months' jail in default of payment for consuming methamphetamine and possessing utensils for consumption of meth.
Benjamin Day Pata was detained in a raid conducted by Narcotics Control Bureau officers on a staff-house in Berakas at 8pm on November 25, 2014. His urine sample and traces on utensils found at the scene tested positive for meth.
Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli gave the defendant two months' grace period to settle the fine.
Narcotics Control Bureau Prosecutor Ainorazimah binti Haji Zabidi represented the Public Prosecutor in the case.
