Court Revised Sentence in Serial Theft Case

The High Court has revised the sentence of a thief after the Magistrate's Court miscalculated the total jail term.
The defendant, Mohammad Ezwan bin Aripin, was charged with other defendants and pleaded guilty to 21 charges on March 14 for committing theft, trespassing and dishonestly retaining stolen property with a previous record of committing theft.
The Senior Magistrate pronounced the total sentence to be 78 months imprisonment. Chief Justice Dato Seri Paduka Haji Kifrawi bin Dato Paduka Haji Kifli in revising the sentence, explained the error to Mohammad Ezwan in court and understood with no objections to it.
The Chief Justice revised the sentence to a total of 82 months imprisonment.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Dayangku Didi Nuraza binti Pengiran Latiff appeared for the Public Prosecutor in the High Court revision.
