BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Magistrate's Court yesterday sentenced a local duo to jail after they pleaded guilty to theft and abetment in disposing a stolen item.

Yusbi bin Ramlee, 32, received one year and three months' jail for the theft of a car in Kampong Salambigar on May 22, 2016 and the theft of a gas cylinder from' a place in Kampong Mata-Mata between May 18 and 19, 2016.

Razuan bin Bawai, 41, received one year's jail and a fine of $500 or another month's jail in default of payment for the theft of the same car with Yusbi and abetment in disposing the stolen gas cylinder.

A co-defendant, Ujiwati binti Ishak, 37, was released on court bail of $3,000 or in one local surety after denying the theft of the same car.

However, Ujiwati pleaded guilty to the theft of a gas cylinder.

Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Haji Kefli ordered June 8 for the further mention of Ujiwati's case.

DPP Nor 'Adliatul Hidayah binti Haji Mohd Zaidi prosecuted the case.
