A seven-month-old baby boy fell into coma at Bintulu Hospital yesterday after suspected abuse by his two caretakers who are Indonesians.
The two suspects were arrested by Miri police at an oil palm plantation in Suai, Niah, yesterday around 9am.
The baby’s parents lodged a police report on Friday night at Miri central police station (CPS).
Acting on the report lodged, police made the arrest.
It is understood that the infant was left under the suspects’ care while the parents were away working last Sunday.
Unfortunately, when the parents arrived at the suspect’s home at a workers’ quarters the next day to take the baby home, they realized the boy was unconscious.
They immediately rushed him to Bintulu hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the infant had sustained injuries on his head and on his back.
