A cyclist escaped with non-life threatening injuries after he was hit from behind by a vehicle on the Lumut-Seria Highway last evening.
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said the man was receiving treatment at a hospital but offered no further details as investigations were underway.
Photos showing the bicycle trapped beneath the vehicle were circulated on social media last night.
Witnesses said the cyclist whose age and nationality were unknown at press time was hit from behind.
The increasing number of road accidents involving cyclists has caused alarm in the country with more enthusiasts taking up cycling as a sport and a mode of transportation.
Three fatalities have been recorded to date, of which two cases occurred last year.
In September last year, the Brunei National Road Safety Council held dialogue sessions with local cycling clubs to identify ways to enhance safety of cyclists and other road users.
The meetings also mooted the establishment of guidelines on road safety for cyclists.
