The residents of Kampong Belimbing and Kampong Subok gathered yesterday for mass Doa Tahlil and Doa Arwah recitations to remember the dearly departed.

The event's guest of honour was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Awang Haji Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar.

The ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Norijal bin Judin, the Imam of Kampong Belimbing Mosque, followed by welcoming remarks from Legislative Council (LegCo) member YB Awang Haji Gapor @ Haji Mohd Daud bin Karim in his capacity as the Village Head of Kampong Belimbing.

In the remarks, he highlighted that among the event's objectives are to gather village residents to remember their family members who have passed away, and to encourage them to participate in religious activities.

He added that the ceremony also aimed to instil a sense of concern and care towards orphans, providing them with assistance so that they too can enjoy the upcoming festivities as well as to uplift everyone's spirits.

The Doa Tahlil and Doa Arwah was then recited by the villagers and congregants led by Mosque Affairs Officer Pengiran Haji Hafizuddin bin Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar in his capacity as Head Imam.

The event also continued with a presentation of donations to a total of 28 orphans from Kampong Belimbing and Kampong Subok as well as the distribution of dates, before a Doa Selamat was recited.
