BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

With the sighting of the Ramadhan crescent moon scheduled to take place tomorrow, religious authorities are urging Muslims to abstain from aberrant behaviour and from anything that distracts them from remembering Allah the Almighty.

In yesterday's Friday sermon, Imams also reminded the Muslim ummah to refrain from engaging in idle talk, and to practise self-discipline during the month of Ramadhan.

Muslims were encouraged to pray daily in seeking forgiveness, and to look forward to the coming of Ramadhan.

"It is a fact that as human beings, it is impossible to avoid from committing errors and sins, whether they be big or small. We should, therefore, purify ourselves by acts of repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah the Almighty. Anyone who repents in the month of Ramadhan will surely receive mercy and blessings from Him," said Imams during the sermon.

The sermon also called on Muslims to increase their faith during Ramadhan, through good habits and in submitting themselves to Allah the Almighty.

"Let us enrich our daily habits with acts of righteousness and avoid from committing forbidden acts. Guide our families in becoming sincere believers of Allah the Almighty, by performing the obligatory fast, coupled with optional practices (Sunnah) which should be performed during the day and at night throughout the holy month of Ramadhan," the sermon concluded.
