MANILA, PHILIPPINES

A day before the June 8 deadline, only 20 national candidates have so far filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) main office in Intramuros, Manila.

Former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Ralph Recto, and actress Alma Moreno, who all ran for senator, submitted their SOCEs, which contains the list of contribution received by the candidate or party; list of expenditure, list of any unpaid obligation, its nature, and amount.

Based on their SOCE’s, total contributions received by Lacson was P90,474,233.76 while his expenditures was at P87,935,535.91.

Total contributions for Recto amounted to P111,650,000.00 while his spending was at P131,867,403.89 while Moreno declared 0 contributions and a spending of P134,233.03.

For partylist, the groups that have already submitted SOCEs include ABANG LINGKOD, AGAP, ALL FISH, 1-ABILIDAD, ANG KABUHAYAN, ABS, ANGKLA, ANAKPAWIS, KALINGA, SENIOR CITIZENS, MARINO, ANAC-IP, BUTIL, 1-SAGIP, MTM PHILS, and ABONO.

No candidate for president or vice president has so far submitted their SOCE.

An incomplete SOCE as well as those that do not conform to the prescribed form shall also be considered not filed.

Failure to submit SOCEs will prevent winning bets from assuming their posts.

Atty. Mazan lutchavez-vergara of the Campaign Finance Office said they expect many candidates, both winning and losing, to flock to Comelec on Wednesday.

“We expect many of them will file tomorrow,” she said in an interview.

“There won’t be an extension because prior to elections we had so many extensions. This time, we really need to show the candidates that we are strict in our deadline,” added Vergara.

Earlier, the Comelec said those who fail to file their SOCE by June 8 will be considered not filed.
