A Microsoft Showcase School event was held recently at Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan (CHMS BSB) to share the new techniques adapted in redefining learning in the school.

CHMS BSB has been awarded Brunei's first Microsoft Showcase School status for the second consecutive year, according to a press release.

The theme of the workshop was 'Transform your Classroom and School with OneNote Class and Staff Notebook', one of the trending productivity tools from Microsoft.

The event was facilitated by two Microsoft Innovative Expert-Educators, Tan Been Tiem and Kalpana Kishorekumar.

Also present was Dayangku Ashidayu binti Pengiran Ali, Teacher Engagement Manager, Microsoft Brunei.

In her welcome address via a recorded message, CHMS BSB's Principal, Kho Guik Lan emphasised on the importance for educators to meet the needs of today's learners.

Sharing her insights on OneNote Class and Staff Notebook, she articulated on how well teachers at CHMS BSB have employed it as it helps them to stay connected, to pool resources and to prepare interactive content.

"Microsoft has always inspired us with their technology, precisely with their tools such as OneNote, Sway and Office 365 etc," she added.

CHMS BSB is the first School in Brunei Darussalam to use OneNote Class and Staff Notebook since the app was launched and it has been made mandatory in the school since the beginning of the year.

The highlight of the session was the exclusive video message shared by Mark Sparvell, Senior Programme Manager, Worldwide Audience Strategy, Microsoft Showcase Schools, Microsoft in Education, Seattle, Washington DC, USA.

Applauding the progress made by the school, Mark mentioned that CHMS BSB is co-sharing the vision of Microsoft in Education and is excelling in unlocking innovation through harnessing technology in learning and transforming the school through collaborating globally and by instilling quality skills in students.

In her address, Dayangku Ashidayu said that CHMS BSB is one of the top-notch Microsoft Showcase Schools in the APAC region.

Impressed with the educational practices that are aided by technology, CHMS BSB has declared its presence in the education arena very well.
