JPMC Marked World Blood Donor Day at Hua Ho Manggis

KG MANGGIS, BRUNEI-MUARA

In conjunction with the World Blood Donor Day that is celebrated globally every June 14, the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) organised a blood donation drive at the Hua Ho branch in Manggis, said a press release.

The blood donation drive took place at the department store's ground floor area between 12 noon and 3pm on three different days.

The first session was on Friday, May 27, followed by a second session on Thursday, June 2 and the final session on Saturday, June 4.

The drive received a total of over 60 interested donors and 25 were first-time donors who joined in to be part of a noble cause.

The event welcomed members of the public to show their support, raise awareness and share in the importance of blood donations to the community.

"A few minutes of your time can help save someone's life, or even three lives," said JPMC's blood bank nurse, Romeo Tabios.

He added that there is always a need for blood donors and doing so helps give back to the community, which in turn would also help improve the donors' mental and physical health.

Volunteers who wish to donate are interviewed about their health history as well as that of family.

Other basic physical health screenings are also considered, such as pulse, blood pressure, body temperature, cholesterol and haemoglobin level check-ups.

JPMC looks forward to more blood donation drives in the future, in the hope of helping patients in need.
