BRUNEI-MUARA

The 30th Japanese Speech Contest will be taking place on August 27, 2016 at 2.30pm at the Lecture Hall of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Mechanical Campus.

In a press release from the Embassy of Japan, it is stated that the Continuing Education and Training Division of the Ministry of Education, the Language Centre at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam are organising the contest.

The speech contest aims to encourage the contestants to give a public demonstration of their proficiency in the Japanese language.

The event will also serve as a good opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Brunei Darussalam, which aspires to foster greater friendship among the people of both countries.

The contest is divided into two categories: Beginner Level and Advanced Level.

The Beginner Level is specified for those who have studied the Japanese language for less than two years.

The Advanced Level requires participants to have not stayed in Japan for more than a total of two years since the age of six.

In each category, contestants are free to choose their title and subject, but should avoid political, religious and controversial topics.

To enter the contest, an application form can be downloaded from the homepage of the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam (http://goo.gl/forms/Ighqr3IKfu).

The application deadline is June 30, 2016.

Any questions or inquiries can be forwarded to the Culture and Education Section of the Embassy of Japan via phone 222-9265, fax 222-9481, e-mail embassy @ bw.mofa.go.jp or the website http://www.bn.emb-japan.go.jp.
