A trial date of May 2 to June 3, 2017 has been set for Chan Key Hong, the executive director of Maju Motors, together with two building inspectors from the Town and Country Planning Department at the Ministry of Development.
Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman settled on the trial date yesterday, and has extended the defendants' bail. All three have denied the charges of graft and bribery brought against them.
The charges were brought after investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau concluded that Zamri bin Haji Jaludin and Pengiran Haji Baharuddin bin Pengiran Haji Md Tahir, both planning inspectors at the Town and Country Planning Department, allegedly accepted $90 from Chan Key Hong as an inducement not to pursue a thorough inspection on workshop certification at Maju Motors on August 30, 2011.
Chan has been charged with bribery, while both Zamri and Pengiran Haji Baharuddin face the charge of accepting bribe money.
Chan also faces an extra charge of abetting the two planning Inspectors.
Chan was represented by defence counsels Rozaiman Abdul Rahman and Balendran Balasingam, while the civil servants are represented by defence counsel Pengiran Khairul Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Md Yassin.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurjauinah Haji Kula represented the Public Prosecutor in the case.
