Rimba II Secondary School (SMR II) yesterday held a student-led conference for its Year 7 students to provide them with a platform to share work, discuss goals and talk about actual learning and their progress in learning.

Also present during the conference were the students' parents and teachers.

The objectives of the conference were to bridge the gap in communication between parents, students and the school, to encourage Year 7 students to take ownership of their learning, to develop self-confidence and communication skills among Year 7 students and to teach students self-evaluation skills.

The students led the conversation, showing parents what they have learned and identified their strengths and weaknesses. In the process, the students also set goals for improvement and shared them with their parents.
