BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
With Brunei preparing to observe Nuzul Al-Quran next week, Muslims have-been urged by religious authorities to set aside some time for reading the Al-Quran, despite their busy schedules.
Yesterday's Friday sermon expressed disappointment that some Muslims were unable to find the time for Al-Quran reading in their lives.
"There are also those who do not read the Al-Quran, with the excuse that they do not know how to recite it. With so many facilities and provisions now available for learning the Al-Quran, there is no longer an excuse for not to be able to read it. What is important is one's willingness and determination to learn," said Imams during the sermon.
The sermon also reminded that reading the Al-Quran is a form of worship, while practising the laws within it is an obligation.
"There are many religious activities in our country during the month of Ramadhan, such as the Tedarus programmes and the Khatam ceremonies, which should motivate us to read more of the Al-Quran," the sermon concluded.
