A total of 10 Qaris of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel participated in the final competition of the Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran yesterday morning.

The event was held in conjunction with the RBAF's 55th anniversary at the Pahlawan Hall, Berakas Garrison.

The Qari champion was LCpI (U) Musa bin Haji Sahat from the Royal Brunei Air Force; while the runner-up was Cpl Nazirul bin Haji Asmat from the Ministry of Defence and in third place was Cpl Pengiran Haji Kamarul Sarip bin Pengiran Haji Serpuddin also from the Ministry of Defence.

For Qariah, Cpl Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Dagang from the Royal Brunei Land Forces was named the champion. The second place was won by Lt Auni Afifah @ Yumni binti Haji Ali Hassan of Defence Academy RBAF and third place went to Lt (U) Nur Hasinah binti Haji Rosli of Royal Brunei Air Force.

The event concluded with the prizes presented by guest of honour, Brigadier General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces to the contestants.

This year's RBAF Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran competition was participated by 23 personnel which comprised of 12 Qaris and 11 Qariahs. This year's annual event was organised by the Royal Brunei Air Force.
