BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Magistrate's Court yesterday reserved judgement in a corruption case against a government servant and a businessman to give way for the defence to submit mitigations and application for a stay on execution of the sentence.

The defendants - Wadi bin Haji Mohd Tuah, Assistant Superintendent of the Fire and Rescue Department, is accused of two counts of obtaining valuable things without consideration, while Yap Tiew Hon, Managing Director of Syarikat Pro-Team Construction and Trading Sdn Bhd faces a charge of abetment of Wadi's alleged offences.

Wadi is alleged to have obtained 550 homogenous tiles valued at $605 from Yap Tiew Hon and two tonnes of cement valued at $350 on November 2011.

Yap allegedly abetted these offences. Wadi was tasked with inspecting a Housing Development Project at Lot 27231, Spg 52-55-30 in Kampong Mata-Mata, while Yap's company was developing the site. Senior Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar fixed June 25 for further mention of the case.
