Prosecutors have asked for more time from the Brunei Magistrate's Court, to draft other possible charges against a local man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.

The defendant, Norin bin Pungut, allegedly raped the girl at a house in Mentiri, sometime in April this year.

Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli gave DPP Sharon Yeo two weeks, and fixed the case for further mention on July 4.

Norin's bail was extended.

The defendant is facing a charge which carries the penalty of a minimum term of eight years, or a maximum of 30 years, and no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.
