Indonesian Duo Imprisoned, Whipped for Overstaying

Two Indonesian men were sentenced to three months' jail and three strokes of whipping after they pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court yesterday to overstaying in Brunei Darussalam.
Imam Hidayatullah, 19, and Bakri, 40, were arrested at their rented rooms at Kampong Tanjong Nangka by the Immigration Enforcement Officers before midnight on June 19, 2016.
Both defendants were found holding passports with expired visitor's passes.
Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman presided over the case.
