Health Ministry Held a Briefing on Product Safety Guidelines for 'Cubepreneurs'

A briefing session on product safety guidelines for cube business owners was held at the Al-'Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.

 

It was presented by officers from the Pharmaceutical Services, and the Food Safety and Quality Control Division of the MoH and the Halal Food Control Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

 

According to the MoH, the briefing was aimed at educating cube business owners on the importance of food and product safety. They were also reminded to maintain the cleanliness of their business premises, and to ensure that imported products are registered or have received a permit from relevant government agencies.

 

It also sought to enhance the knowledge on the issue of the halal logo and sale of fresh or raw meat according to Islam.

 

The MoH, in cooperation with the Attorney General's Chambers Department, are also in the process of legislating new regulations on Public Health (food) for the public's safety and to ensure that all entrepreneurs are held accountable for their business activities.

 

The briefing was attended by officers from the MoH, Halal Food Control Section of MoRA, and Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

 

Dr. Justin Wong, Medical Superintendent of Public Health, gave a brief introduction on food safety. The panel of officers also included Dayang Hajah Siti Shamsiah binti Haji Abdul Samad, Public Health Officer; Dayang Hasmilawaty Haji Mohd Taib, Senior Chemist; and Dayang Siti Hazirah binti Haji Abu Hassan, Nutrition Officer.
