Over 800 Orphans in Tutong District Received Donations

TUTONG
More than 800 orphans and children from underprivileged families in the Tutong District received several donations from private companies and welfare funds yesterday.
The donations were handed over by the Brunei Darussalam National Orphans Fund, the Tutong District Orphans Fund, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Nazmi Textile Mall and Hua Ho Department Store.
The donations are intended to provide the recipients with the means to prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities. The event was held at the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex.
The presentation ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses of the Al-Quran by a student from the Lamunin Religious School, Dayang Adi Nurhanani binti Mohd Ali, followed by an interpretation by Dayang Hajah Balkis binti Haji Hussin, a teacher from the same school.
The ceremony then continued with recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah, led by Awang Aidil bin Mohd Yassin, the Mosque Affairs Officer of Zone 2 in Tutong District.
The event then continued with a presentation of gifts for students who achieved excellent results in their BGCE A' Levels, BGCE 'O' Levels, Primary School Assessment (PSR) and Religious Primary School Certificate (SSSRU). The gifts were handed over by the guest of honour, Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, the Acting Tutong District Officer.
This was immediately followed by the presenting of donations to the orphaned children by several agencies and private companies.
Also present during the event were Legislative Council members, senior government officers, mukim penghulus and village heads of Tutong District.
