KAMPONG MATA-MATA, GADONG

The Kampong Mata-Mata Primary School (SR Kg Mata-Mata) recently held a Quranic verses memorisation competition for its pre-school and Year 1 to Year 6 students.

In a press release, the school shared that the event, held in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan, had a total of 28 participants involved in the competition.

Judging the competition were Ustazah Hartini binti Hashim from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Ustazah Hajah Norlina binti Haji Chuchu of Madang Religious School, and Ustazah Pengiran Hajah Halijah binti Pengiran Haji Damit of the Youth Development Centre, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).

Headmaster Cikgu Dzulbaharin bin Haji Sulaiman presented prizes to the champions, first runner-up and second runner-up in the lower primary category, while Deputy Headmaster Cikgu Hashnal Haklim bin Haji Halim presented the prizes for the competition's upper primary category.

Additionally, the event also saw the presentation of donations collected from parents, teachers and the school's community members to eight orphans and 57 less fortunate students by the guest of honour, Haji Metali bin Haji Kamis, the Village Head of Kg Mata-Mata.
