Bruneian Duo Imprisoned Over a String of Carjackings

Two local men have been jailed for 28 months for a string of auto theft charges, which they yesterday pleaded guilty to at the Bandar Magistrate's Court.
According to DPP Vuina Song, Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, 49, and Mohammad Zakri bin Haji Samat, 44, stole a car from the parking lot of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital at 5 pm on June 13, 2016.
They also stole a bag containing two pairs of football boots, jersey and ball from the car.
On June 18, 2016 at 9pm, the duo took a car away from the vicinity of Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
They also stole a car from the vicinity of Sim Kim Huat department store in Kiulap at 7.30pm on June 20, 2016.
The police arrested the duo after receiving reports lodged by owners of the missing cars.
Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman presided over the case.
