KAMPONG PANCHOR MENGKUBAU, BRUNEI-MUARA
The Department of Electrical Services (DES) has taken steps to address the street lighting problems in RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau.
The issue was highlighted by several residents in an article published in the Bulletin on June 21, 2016.
In a statement, DES said an investigation found that the power disruption was due to damage to the control switch of the streetlights located in Bukit Sinadur.
"Replacement works have been completed on June 21, 2016. DES would also like to share that the maintenance contract of street lightings for the RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau is already in place. This will ensure that any future issues associated with faulty street lightings can be promptly addressed.
"DES would also like to inform that all complaints related to power outages and street lighting issues in the RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau can now be made through Darussalam hotline 123. Once complaints are logged, DES is committed to resolve the issues at the earliest possible opportunity in the safest manner.
"DES would also like to take this opportunity to highlight the safety hazard on the high and low voltage electrical installations, such as the main power switchboard or the street lighting controller.
"For the safety of the public, unauthorised persons are not allowed to operate or tamper with any electrical or supply installations. Only authorised and competent personnel may access and operate these installations," DES said.
For further information, the public may contact Darussalam hotline 123 or the Director of Electrical Services directly at 7170697 or the Area Manager at 8280010. Members of the public may also visit the DES website at http://www.des.gov. bn.
