Information Dept' Marked 64th Anniversary with Thanksgiving

The Information Department of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) last evening marked the 64th anniversary of its establishment in a religious ceremony held at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque in Jalan Perdana Menteri.
Present at the ceremony, which also saw mass Maghrib, Sunnat Hajat and Isyak prayers was the Acting Director of Information, Awang Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad along with officers and staff of the department.
The event also included the recitation of the Tahlil and Surah Yaasiin, and thanksgiving prayers to conclude.
Established on April 1, 1952 and formerly known as the Information Services, among the department's role is as the Government's "eyes and ears" in relaying information and news to the public on state policies, activities and programmes as well as a channel for the public to relay their issues and concerns and in understanding mass media agenda.
The department is also responsible in promoting and preserving patriotism and loyalty to the monarch and country, apart from managing media affairs and organising publicity and promotional events for state events.
It also publishes the triweekly official state newspaper, Pelita Brunei which can also be accessed daily on its online platform.
