TUTONG

The less fortunate in the country continued to receive caring donation and gifts from various public and private agencies and organisations - an annual tradition in respect to the holy month of Ramadhan and the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

To enliven the spirit of the Ramadhan and lessen the hardship endured by the less fortunate, a convoy from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) went to several locations to hand over gifts and cash to select families in the Tutong District yesterday.

Yayasan allocated a total of B$41,230 to 30 selected less fortunate families in the Tutong District.

The donation comprised cash, equipment, essential goods and food. Brunei Press Sdn Bhd also contributed over 400 boxes of confectionary gifts.

The donation was handed over by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Ministry of Education, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan.

The donation aimed to assist the recipients in their family needs for the month of Ramadhan.

Yayasan was established as a philanthropic and religious charity platform of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the Royal Family to serve as a symbol of His Majesty's love towards his people.

Some of the recipients also received equipment such as a power generator, wheel-chair and grass-cutter machine.

The project was organised with cooperation from the Four Wheel Drive Association Brunei Darussalam as its strategic partner.

Also present during the event was Awang Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, Managing Director of Yayasan, government officers and staff.
