Idul Fitri Exodus Underway, Thousands of Vehicles Enter Cikampek Toll Road

Thousands of vehicles were recorded on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road from Friday evening to Saturday morning as the mass exodus of people heading home for Idul Fitri neared its peak.
Between 6 p.m. on Friday and 6 a.m. on Saturday, 117,800 vehicles passed the toll gate from Jakarta onto the Cikampek toll road, Jakarta-Cikampek toll gate chief Hervian said. The number increased from the same period last year, when 100,254 vehicles were recorded.
Meanwhile, vehicles exiting the toll road heading to Jakarta were recorded at 74,810 vehicles.
The Idul Fitri exodus surged on Friday, with the toll road authority seeing a 45 percent increase in vehicles from regular days.
Cikampek is the main toll road for Jakarta residents heading to West, Central and East Java. (rin)
