Money Changer Firms Experienced Increase in Business

 July 5th, 2016  |  05:32 AM  |   656 views

BRUNEI-MUARA

With Hari Raya just around the corner, remittance and money changer firms in the country are experiencing a brisk business from expatriate workers.

Most of the expatriates lining up at the remittance and money changer outlets in the capital are from Indonesia, India and Bangladesh, who are unable to spend the holiday season with their families due to work commitments.

Mohammad Raffiq, a Bangladeshi, said that he was unable to go home for the Hari Raya celebrations because he had only just returned from his two-month holiday.

"I just managed to send money to my family to help them prepare for the celebrations," he said.

"This year I will experience the festive celebration in Brunei, and I will be going to Istana Nurul Iman with my friends," said Muhammad Mutalif, another expatriate worker.

"The atmosphere here is different from my hometown, but we are getting used to it," he added.
