A thirty-year-old Malaysian woman has been ordered by the Magistrate's Court to pay B$1,500, or serve six weeks of imprisonment in default, after she pleaded guilty to possession of contraband alcohol.
The defendant, Toh Mei Choo, was found hoarding 28 cans of beer and six bottles of liquor in a house at Jalan Mulaut Limau Manis, Kampong Masin, on June 14, this year.
Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Badaruddin heard from the Customs prosecutor how Customs preventive officers had searched the house and found the stash of liquor, for which Toh was unable to produce any import permit.
