Brunei Darussalam celebrates Hari Raya Aidilfitri with the Takbir praising the greatness of Allah The Almighty resounding at all mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the Sultanate. The celebration began with the Sunnat Aidilfitri prayer held yesterday morning with the focal point at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah  ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined his subjects in performing the Sunat Aidilfitri prayer at Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Executive Chairman for Major Islamic events; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO); His Royal Highness Prince Haji Abdul 'Azim, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. The Sunnat Hari Raya Aidilfitri prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

Meanwhile, the Khutbah (sermon) was read by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin. The sermon among other matters urged people to practice good manners while receiving guests and visiting others. The sermon also reminded people not to forget their prayers and other religious obligations that can be rewarded.

In the second Khutbah, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin advised the public to practice moderation in all aspects and spending within one's means during the festivity. Before leaving the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, His Majesty and members of the royal family consented to receive Junjung Ziarah from the congregants.
