34,397 Visited Istana Nurul Iman on First Day

A total of 14,926 well-wishers from all walks of life came to Istana Nurul Iman yesterday afternoon to convey their Hari Raya greetings and Junjung Ziarah to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri as well as other members of the royal family.

 

First, His Majesty consented to receive in audience, His Excellency Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Singapore; Mr Baey Yam Keng, Parliament Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; Mr Amrin Amin, Parliament Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and His Excellency Lim Hong Huai, Singapore's High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO); His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel and other members of the royal family.

 

Istana Nurul Iman that is open to the public during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is a symbol of a caring Monarch who is always concerned with the well-being and prosperity of the people. It also shows His Majesty's desire to be with the people in celebrating Hari Raya Aidil Fitri together.

 

At another part of Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri consented to receive the women audience and well-wishers. Also in attendance were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh 'Ab Rahaman; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Norhayati binti Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Azeemah Nikmatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzillah Lubabul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam. Also present were Her Majesty's grandchildren.

 

The first day of the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri audience and greeting ceremony clearly showed the monarch's and royal family's open-heartedness and cordiality. Altogether, 34,397 people visited Istana Nurul Iman on the first day it was opened for Hari Raya. Istana Nurul Iman will be open again today from 10am until 12pm and again from 2pm to 4pm for the people to meet and greet His Majesty and members of the royal family during the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration.
