In Case It Wasn’t Obvious, Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Ride A Glass Skateboard

There’s a reason why Tony Hawk and other professional skaters don’t ride skateboards made of glass.

In fact, we’re not sure anybody has ever thought a glass skateboard would be a good idea – but some guys tried it out anyway.

As part of YouTube channel Braille Skateboarding‘s ‘You make it, we skate it’ series where they try out makeshift boards (sounds safe), a member of the group took the glass deck for a spin.

At first it performs surprisingly well, until the inevitable happens in some style.

Skip ahead to about seven minutes into the video to watch the glorious moment (let’s be honest, that’s why you’re here).

Ouch.

Initially, the guys seem quite pleased with the board – it looks great and navigates the ground fairly smoothly and quickly.

But it’s when they decide to drop in from the top of a ramp that things take a turn for the worse.

As the skater transfers all his body weight onto the deck it shatters, sending him and shards of glass crashing to the ground.

Incredibly, he was fine – and is laughing within seconds of the fall.

The video even gives us some satisfying slow-mo replays of the board shattering under his feet.

‘It didn’t kickflip’ grins the skater when he finally manages to stop nervously giggling.

The footage of the silly stunt has been viewed more than 1.8 million times on YouTube.
