Local Sentenced to 13-Month Imprisonment for Possessing Customs Contraband

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

A forty-year old local man was sentenced to 13 months imprisonment by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court after failing to settle the B$15,500 fine for possessing customs contraband.

The defendant, Maini bin Ahmat, pleaded guilty for possessing 41 cartons of cigarettes of various brands and 4 packets of chicken wings during an inspection at the Kuala Lurah Customs Control Post on June 6, 2016.

All goods were confiscated to be destroyed.
