His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to grace the ceremony comprising the mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran, which was held in conjunction with His Majesty's 70th birthday celebration. The ceremony was held yesterday at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel.

His Majesty and members of the royal family were greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Committe of His Majesty's 70th birthday celebration and Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs.

The thanksgiving ceremony began with the mass Maghrib prayer followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer, both led by YB Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

The ceremony continued with the mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar'ie Judge.

The Doa Kesyukuran was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti, followed by the mass Isyak prayer led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin, Syariah Appeal Court Judge.

The ceremony was held simultaneously at all mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide. In the Brunei-Muara District, the ceremonies were held at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong, Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop, Sultan Sharif All Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun, Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara, and the Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque.

In the Belait District, the ceremonies were held at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait, the Perpindahan Negara Kampong Pandan Mosque in Kuala Belait, and the Pekan Seria Mosque.

In the Tutong District, the ceremony was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong, while in the Temburong District, it was held at the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar.
