Man Sentenced to 2 Years' Jail, 3 Strokes for Criminal Intimidation, Reckless Driving & Mischief

A thirty-eight-year-old local man was sentenced to two years' jail and three strokes after he pleaded guilty on July 6, 2016 in the Magistrate's Court to the offences of criminal intimidation, reckless driving and mischief.
The defendant, Haji Shahrul Alim bin Haji Sulaiman, threatened his sister by saying that he would burn her house down at Kampong Sungai Tilong at 10pm on June 19, 2016.
He drove a car recklessly endangering the public on Jalan Muara at 12am on June 20, 2016.
The defendant also caused damage to the car by deliberately driving it into a drain.
DPP Aiman Zakaria informed Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman that on that day, the defendant was upset with his family that led to his commission of the offences.
