Local Man Sentenced to 5-Month Imprisonment for Possession, Consumption of Controlled Drugs

A thirty-five-year-old local man was sentenced to five months' jail after failing to pay a fine of B$2,300 after he was convicted by the Bandar Magistrate's Court for the possession and consumption of controlled drugs back in 2013.
The defendant, Marawidi bin Effendi, pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing and consuming 0.1221 grammes of Methamphetamine or Syabu' on April 10, 2013 in the vicinity of a restaurant in Kampong Rimba.
Marawidi was nabbed by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers and brought in for a urine sample, which tested positive for the banned substance, as confirmed by results obtained from the Scientific Services Department.
Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul Khairuddien bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman also ordered for the defendant to undergo rehabilitation at the Al-Islah Centre after serving his jail term.
