Brunei Darussalam will inaugurally host an HSSE Construction Conference this coming August 23-24 at the Atria Simpur Hall of the Public Works Department (JKR) Headquarters in Old Airport, Berakas.

This was announced in a press conference by CONFEX, the co-organiser of the event, at RMS Portview Restaurant in the capital yesterday.

CONFEX is partnering with the Ministry of Development, JKR and the Brunei Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) for the August conference. General Manager of CONFEX, Hafriz Musa, pointed out that the partnership brings in the relevant stakeholders in the HSSE industry in the country.

"At the same time, we are also bringing in experienced speakers and professionals to talk about the changing landscape about HSSE, not just in Brunei but globally. This is in keeping up with current trend § and issues and holding up to national and international standards," he added.

Themed 'The Road to Goal Zero: The Future of Brunei's HSE Governance and Performance', the event brings together the renowned HSSE international and local professional speakers in the field of safety.

It will see discussions and information sharing on achieving zero injuries, fatalities and serious incidents by applying the new best practices of international HSSE governance in Brunei.

The two-day conference hopes to attract 120 delegates, who will benefit from topics such as 'What's next for Brunei's HSE practices, safety ROI, major accident response - A learning exercise, leadership in HSSE, ensuring the practice of workplace safety and health and environmental engineering'.

A special keynote titled 'Workplace safety is not optional!' will be presented by internationally acclaimed Accident Survivor, Lee Shelby.

Presentations from several government agencies, as a cooperative move between the government and corporate sectors in promoting the safety culture will also be presented at the conference.

Running alongside the conference will be the HSSE Construction Exhibition, which will be a perfect platform for any organisation to showcase and expose their products and services.
