With an influx of overseas fast-food franchise in Brunei, Pelicana Chicken has become the newest fried chicken franchise to join the trend with a soft-opening at the outlet located at the Seri Kenangan Complex in Kiulap.

Established in 1982, Pelicana Chicken is the longest standing and the largest stand alone Korean style chicken franchise.

Specialising in Korean Fried Chicken, the chain store has over 3,000 outlets in South Korea and worldwide. It is famous for their fried chicken and also their selection of sumptuous sauces which will enlighten anyone's tastebuds to find it truly a good place for food and authentic Korean style 'fast food' alike in a healthy manner.

According to Kevin Ong the Director of Pelicana Chicken Malaysia, when it comes to Korean Restaurant, people tend to think of their generous portion of side dishes and also their traditional manner of interior.

"But in Pelicana, we give you a much closer step of the Interior Trend in Korea - Raw and Cozy. Even though Fried Chicken is considered as 'fast food' but in Pelicana, our fried chicken are prepared fresh from the kitchen, to be enjoyed in a cozy ambiance ideally shared among friends and family.

"And of course, their menu pricing is somewhat affordable but to highlight again, Pelicana served a generous amount in each dish and also the food they are very fresh and juicy with every bite," he added.

The Brunei outlet offers up to six selection of speciality sauces that ranges from Original Crunchy,Charcoal BBQ Peli, the Super Hot Spicy Peli and the popular coated Cheese and Cheese flavour.

Pelicana Chicken also have their own selection of side dishes that diners can order to feast with their delicious fried chicken. Musaengchae (seasoned radish) and Miyeok Muchim (seaweed salad) is the two side dishes that really goes well with the fried chicken.

Another speciality found in Pelicana is their yellow sauce which is homemade dipping sauce with mustard wasabi flavour ideally pair with the Chicken Peli Crunchy Chicken or chicken nuggets.

Besides their signature fried chicken, Pelicana also serves burgers combo meals from a choice of chicken or fish fillets with big portion of fries on the sides.

The fillet is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with the yellow sauce gives it an extra kick to the taste. The chain store also provide the Peli platters set which can be shared up to six people and enjoy great savings at the same time.

To end a hearty meal, clinch down with some of the speciality canned fizzy drinks flown all the way from Korean or sip a cup of brewed coffee ordered from the barista on the first floor of the restaurant.

Meanwhile, Sharon Choo, the owner of Pelicana Chicken Brunei said that the response from the public after less than a week of operations have been overwhelming with a steady flow of customers dining everyday. She revealed that an officially opening ceremony for Pelicana Chicken Brunei will be held in September offering additional, dishes with a special appearance from the official Pelicana mascot.
