A Local man was handed a one-year jail sentence and two lashes after he pleaded guilty in the Intermediate Court yesterday to theft and housebreaking for theft.

Mohammad Aimaduddin bin Zefry stole an air compressor from Perumahan BSP, Seria on the evening of July 25, 2016.

At 6.30am on January 3, 2016, the defendant also broke into a house at RPN Kampong Pandan A, Kuala Belait and stole a television, home theatre system, laptop, router, 10 watches of different brands and a RM$100 note.

On the morning of June 25 2016, the defendant also broke into a house on Jalan Maulana and stole a laptop and two hard disc drives.

A co-accused, 36-year-old Sulaiman bin Sulong denied a charge yesterday of committing theft of a hand drill set from a vehicle at a residence on Jalan Kompleks Sukan Mumong, Kuala Belait on July 19, 2016.

Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli ordered Sulaiman further remanded and to come back to court for further mention of his case on August 10.
