JALAN PEMBANGUNAN, BERAKAS

The Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Development, Awang Haji Muhammad Lutfi bin Abdullah, received a visit yesterday from Ahmed Ali Sirohey, the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, for discussions on bilateral cooperation in the area of development.

During the visit, the permanent secretary briefed Sirohey on land and housing applications, housing permits, water connections and the monitoring of construction companies by the Ministry of Development according to a press release.

With development projects like the Temburong Bridge currently in progress, the permanent secretary also gave details on forthcoming proposals for public-private partnership (PPP), which would open up more opportunities for cooperation between foreign contractors and the Ministry of Development.

Sirohey said that Pakistan has plenty of private contractors, capable of building complete cities and fully functioning townships such as those in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The visit ended with both the permanent secretary and Sirohey expressing the hope that the impending PPP would lead to new avenues of bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Pakistan.
