Bruneian Sentenced to 60 Months' Jail for 7 Counts of Housebreaking, Thefts

A local man was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment and two strokes of the cane by the Intermediate Court, after he pleaded guilty to seven charges of housebreaking, theft and trespassing.
Muhammad Zaakirin bin Rahim, 32, broke into a house to steal a bicycle, at Jalan Sungai Pandan, Kuala Belait, at 3.30pm, on December 16, 2015.
He stole another bicycle from inside a house at Panaga, Seria, between 8.20am and 10.20am on January 21, this year.
Muhammad Zaakirin took yet another bicycle from a shop at Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait, between 10am on January 30 and 12.20am on January 31.
He stole $224, $100 in Thai Baht, and $20 in Philippine Pesos, from inside a house at Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait on February 8.
On the morning of February 16, he stole $30 and four keys from a house at Jalan Utara Panaga, Seria.
On March 9, at 10.15am, he stole $12 and $20 cash from a staff-house located at Jalan Pandan 7, Kuala Belait.
Muhammad Zaakirin was also found guilty of trespassing in order to commit theft at a staff house on Jalan Pandan 7.
DPP Dayangku Hazirah binti Pengiran Yusof presented the prosecution's case, while Judge Pengiran Hajah Hanani binti Pengiran Haji Metussain presided over the proceedings.
