A local man from Temburong was brought to court yesterday to face an allegation of raping his sixty-four-year-old mother-in-law.

He was ordered remanded to assist further investigations into the case.

The fifty-four-year-old defendant, who is not being revealed publicly to protect the victim's identity, is alleged to have raped the victim in a bedroom at their government flat in Temburong around 9pm on August 7, 2016.

The defendant faces a penalty of imprisonment of up to 30 years with whipping.
