One of the scenarios during the Exercise Hikmat Bersatu V/2016 (HB V/2016) at Muara Naval Base yesterday.
At the conclusion of his visits in different exercise locations yesterday, which ended at the Muara Naval Base, His Royal Highness told media representatives that the seven-day exercise, which involves all units of the RBAF, is crucial in ensuring that our military capabilities are constantly ready, especially with the emergence of crisis-situations which warrant for readiness.
"We will know what to expect in the future and with this kind of train, we will be aware of what is happening he said.
When asked to comment about the progress of the series of exercises since its inception in 2003, His Royal Highness commended improvements made and said a lot of good progress has been made, especially with the acquisition of new military technologies.
"This will help improve the exercise in the future," he added, while also praising those men and women behind the exercise, and expressing hope that it will be enhanced further.
Apart from training and evaluating the capabilities of the RBAF, the exercise also enables their personnel to plan and operate within a joint environment at operational level.
This year's exercise focuses on nontraditional security threats and aims to provide comprehensive training for RBAF personnel in the context of realistic contemporary scenarios, which is a follow-up of the Exercise Perisai Kebangsaan IV/2015.

The exercise involves areas within the country's territorial waters, as well as rural residential and commercial areas including various roads in the four districts.
The First Exercise Hikmat Bersatu in 2003 focussed on conventional warfare and in the later years evolved to other focus concepts to suit current needs, such as humanitarian and disaster relief, joint operations and low-intensity conflict.
