Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is seven weeks pregnant with triplets. This is her second pregancy with husband, Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio.
At Malacañang, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said President Duterte is inspired by the news he is soon to have more grandchildren.
It was at the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City, where City Information Office (CIO) Chief Jefry Tupas announced that Mayor Sara could not actively participate in this year’s event because she is pregnant with triplets.
Holding the message written by the lady mayor, Tupas read: “We are expecting triplets and they are doing well on their seventh week. The human body is made to carry just one baby and I am experiencing three-fold all the pregancy symptoms that a woman goes through.”
Tupas said she was advised by her doctor to avoid crowded places to lessen the chances of acquiring infections.
Despite her condition, she said that she will continue acting as the mayor only until allowed by her doctor.
“I may be physically weak but rest assured that I am on top of the situation here in our city,” she said further in the statement read by Tupas.
Andanar, on the other hand, said: “The President is delighted with the news of his daughter’s pregnancy. He is also hopeful that she will be able to see through the pregnancy smoothly and well.”
Inspired by the gift of life, the 71-year-old President has also vowed to step up efforts to combat illegal drugs and keep Filipinos safe from other crimes.
“Mayor Sara’s pregnancy serves as a source of inspiration for the Chief Executive to roll up his sleeves and work double time in his fight against crimes and drugs,” said Andanar.
“He hopes to leave a legacy of a Philippines safe and secure from crimes and drugs to future generation of Filipinos,” he added.
