Upcoming Forum Needs to Stress on Relevant Needs of Organizations

 August 27th, 2016  |  06:36 AM  |   571 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The upcoming Leading Business in Asia Forum is timely, and will cover topics that are highly relevant to the needs of today's organisations, while also addressing practical areas that are proving vital in a leader's ability to have a winning impact.

This was highlighted by Douglas Dean, one of the invited speakers set to feature at the Forum when it takes place on September 28-29 at the Radisson Hotel.

Douglas Dean is a business development strategy expert and world-class brand builder. He has over 25 years of experience in industry and consulting.

He is currently the CEO of Human Capital Group Asia Limited.

In this capacity, he is coaching leaders and is assisting organisations to undergo cultural alignments and implement change in management in order to improve competitiveness within increasingly complex markets.

In an email interview with the Media, Dean shared his thoughts on the Leading Business in Asia Forum and its relevance to Bruneian businesses.

"The timing for this event is spot on and the subjects that will be covered are highly relevant to the needs of today's organisations.

"As consultants, we meet a lot of business leaders and they are all telling us similar stories.

"This is an indication that we are facing a global situation.

"Specifically, leaders are finding that traditional approaches to leadership and business development are no longer producing satisfactory results."

He said that leaders are thus now actively looking for new ways to improve their organisation's performance.

"The Leading Business in Asia Forum addresses practical areas that are proving vital in a leader's ability to impact their organisation in a winning way."

Dean will be delivering a presentation on the first day of the Forum in which he will touch on the topic, 'Leading Business in Uncertain Times'.

Asked what can be expected from this, he said, "I will briefly illustrate some of the core issues we are encountering as a result of our volatile and uncertain market conditions.

"From there I will outline the core areas that successful organisations are focusing on to win in this challenging environment.

"It is important to say, this is not a theoretical or academic presentation. Rather, it is about applying practical and often simple lessons to make your organisation more successful."

He will also be facilitating a workshop on 'Leadership in a Volatile Economy'.

Asked on this, he said, As the first day's presentation is relatively short, it can only provide an overview of what leaders should focus on.

"However, we want the forum's participants to leave the event with some practical actions that they can apply back at work.

"So the second day's mini-workshops provide us with the opportunity to dive a bit deeper into the core of the matter and for the participants to take the knowledge they gain and to work on a personal plan that is tailored to meet their specific needs."

Adding on, he said, "We very much look forward to getting to know and to interacting with Brunei leaders during this event.

"We've had the privilege of working with TelBru on their organisational transformation over the past three years and have come to greatly appreciate the capabilities and motivation of the Bruneian leaders and staff.

"It gives us great confidence in the potential and future of this nation."

The Leading Business in Asia Forum is jointly organised by Asia Inc Forum and Human Capital Group Asia, in partnership with Baiduri Bank and Borneo Bulletin.

The event is tailored forBrunei companies in the private sector, including government-linked companies/state-owned enterprises and select Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with potential to drive the growth of Brunei's economy.

This two-day programme looks to provide practical answers and effective solutions to the challenges faced by Brunei business leaders in an increasingly complex environment.

Day one of the programme will involve a forum featuring cutting-edge guest speakers, while day two will see interactive workshops held.

The event offers participants the opportunity to learn from experts at an intensive two-day programme tailored for Brunei companies and organisations on core topics that include: business leadership in uncertain times, creating a high performance culture, how global benchmarking works, and winning through customer centricity.
